Situated on the ground floors of HDB flats within the heartlands of Singapore, void decks serve with the intent to create common spaces and opportunities for people to mingle and interact.
When we speak of the Singaporean identity, all things of the heartlands come to mind. Void decks are ubiquitous in the Singaporean heartlands, intended to be physical spaces for interaction.
But such aspects of the Singapore living are not only just recognised by Singaporeans living in HDB flats, but all Singaporeans. as they are representative of the collective Singaporean spirit, which goes beyond the physicality.
